Find the Miami-Dade Case or Disposition

For a Miami-Dade criminal case or disposition, use the Miami-Dade Clerk criminal case search. For a Florida statewide criminal-history search, use FDLE. These are different official record paths: the Clerk follows cases filed in Miami-Dade courts, while FDLE maintains the statewide criminal-history product.

Match the question to the source

Question Source What you get Do not assume
Miami-Dade felony or misdemeanor case Miami-Dade Clerk Case information and court documents where available Not a statewide history
Certified local disposition Miami-Dade Clerk Local case-search disposition letter/certified copies Limited to the local search scope
Florida criminal history FDLE State criminal-history search product Not a substitute for a specific court file

A step-by-step route for miami dade criminal records

  1. 01
    Search the county case

Use the Clerk when the event is a Miami-Dade prosecution.

The Clerk’s criminal-history certified-copy service accepts online, mail and in-person requests. Certified copies cost $7; when the case year or number is unknown, add $2 per year searched, per name. For mail, supply the defendant’s name, date of birth, case number and year when known, a self-addressed stamped envelope, and a cashier’s check or money order payable to Clerk of the Courts. The official page lists separate felony, misdemeanor and traffic mailing suites; personal checks are not accepted.

  2. 02
    Use FDLE for statewide scope

Choose the state repository when the task is broader than one county case.

For comparison, FDLE’s Instant Search costs $24 per search plus a $1 card-processing fee and returns uncertified results. The staff-conducted Certified/Non-Certified Search costs $24 and returns results by U.S. mail. These statewide products do not replace a Miami-Dade court disposition.

  3. 03
    Compare identifiers

Use DOB/case number or other official identifiers rather than name alone when available.

Interpretation
Local versus statewide
A no-result in one system does not prove the other system has no record. Preserve the source name and search date.

How to interpret miami dade criminal records results

The Miami-Dade Clerk provides online searches for felony and misdemeanor cases and a separate certified criminal-history disposition-letter route tied to local case records.

A statewide FDLE search can answer a broader Florida-history question, but it should not be cited as the Miami-Dade court file itself.
